The Snowdonian 13th April 2013 – new date

This year’s Snowdonian was again a great success, thanks to the wonderful Staff and the excellent administration.  The prevailing theme from the most enjoyable journey of nearly  80 miles of  2ft gauge travel was ‘Are you going to do it again next year?’

The answer to that question is a resounding YES.

Feedback was as follows – comment by all means if you wish.

1. Boston Lodge visit was really enjoyable – over 60% took the meal in Spooners after, which was very good.
2. Car 123 at the Blaenau end was REALLY good, especially Down from Porthmadog, rising through the Aberglaslyn Pass.  It was a bargain at £25 extra!
3.  Lunch at the Goat was excellent – we should do that again.
4. Food on board and beverage service much appreciated.  Good work by staff to get stuff out so quickly.  Bacon Butties excellent; creamy scones massive!
5.  Runpast at Ffrdd Isaf was good – even though rain threatened.  We were early, so it wasn’t rushed, and letting those who didn’t want to stride off through the long grass stay on the train was much appreciated.
6.  Motive power was a nice choice and worked excellently. Choice for 2013 is ‘First and Last’ – Prince and Lyd, K1 and 143.  Any comments? (Need to mend Prince first – donations welcome.)
7. Bus was not worth pursuing further – no one used it except in the Aberglaslyn Pass.
8. Non-stop from Blaenau to Pont Croesor was achieved  - marvellous, thank you!
